The five projects announced by the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) to strengthen its generation plant will require investments of at least 1.5 billion dollars.
The board of directors of the CFE agreed to its Generation Infrastructure Expansion Plan, which establishes five projects to be located in San Luis Potosí, San Luis Rio Colorado, Baja California Sur and Salamanca. The latter will be a combined cycle power plant that was already planned by the government of Enrique Peña Nieto.
However, the strategy would leave out at least eight power generation projects approved by the previous government. A CFE report for the fourth quarter of 2018 indicates nine projects that were not tendered and "without scope changes."
