Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications is a Riga, Latvia based regulating agency of the telecommunication market in the European Union. Came in to existence in January, 2010 with the aim of fostering the independent, consistent and high-quality regulation of digital markets for the benefit of Europe and its citizens.
BEREC contributes to the development and better functioning of the internal market for electronic communications networks and services. BEREC assists the European Commission and the national regulatory authorities (NRAs) in implementing the EU regulatory framework for electronic communications.
Through the latest strategy 2021-2025, BEREC plans to work around the four general objectives of the European Electronic Communication Code (EECC), viz: Promoting connectivity through very high capacity networks, Promoting competition and efficient investment, Contributing to the development of the internal market and Promoting the interests of the citizens of the Union.
