The Public Procurement in Botswana is supervised and regulated by The Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB), which was established as a parastatal entity in July 2002 following the promulgation of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal, Cap 42:08 of 2001.
The role of PPADB is to adjudicate and award tenders for Central Government. PPADB is also responsible for contractor registration and discipline, issuing of standardized bidding documents, vetting of tender documents prior to issue, capacity building, compliance monitoring and providing overall advi​ce on public procurement and assets disposal in order to improve efficiency.

In order to bring efficiency and transparency in the Public procurement function, PPADB in 2013 had launched the Integrated Procurement Management System (IPMS).
The IPMS online tender platform/ E-Bidding is meant to assist and facilitate public procurement in an effective and efficient manner. With the new system, suppliers who intend to supply to the Government of Botswana ministries and other entities, can receive tenders notification through email, download the tender document and submit their response online.
