Expression of Interest are invited for Analytics on Greening of Ports in India
The World Bank intends to appoint a consultant (a firm) to carry out the “Framework for Greening of Ports in India, with a special focus on two major ports” (defined as the“Project”). This TOR outlines the scope of work for the consultant to conduct this study.
The objective of this study is to Inform Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC) and the Ministry of Ports, shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) and the World Bank on the technological solutions as well as generating financial resources for greening of ports to ensure sustainability by reducing pollution and carbon footprint as envisaged in the recent draft "Harit Sagar" or “Greening Port” Guidelines issued in May 2023 by the Government of India. This study under ProBlue will have particular thrust on: a) technological options and best practices suitable for Indian conditions on Green Port infrastructure development for managing oil spills at ports, monitoring environmental pollution, shore to ship power and use of alternate energy for port operations; b) Potential financing modalities including PPPs and other private sector participation options for Greening of Ports in India while examining the international best practices and assessing investment gap for undertaking activities.
