Tenders are invited for Promoting Sustainable Rice Cultivation in the Supply Chain Linked to Olam Agri India Pvt Ltd ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION The engagement seeks to address a few of these challenges pertaining to water sustainability, high pesticide residue levels and social issues with special focus on gender issues. The overall objectives of the project are- a) promotion of climate-smart and sustainable rice cultivation practices in the supply chain of Olam Agri India Pvt Ltd and aiming to be compliant with Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) in rice growing states / regions in India linked to Client's project/rice sourcing areas in the near future; b) improvements in farm economics for rice smallholders by improving farm income by at least 15 percent as a result of (a) purchase of sustainable (low MRL) and/or sustainably produced rice by institutional buyers at remunerative prices and / or reduction in per unit rice cost of cultivation; and c) achieving water sustainability in the form of a few billion liters of water saved/use avoided through the adoption of sustainable climate smart irrigation practices and demonstration of other key farm agri/irrigation technologies d) Support the client to establish transparency and traceability across the supply chain (preferably through blockchain-enabled digital platform which lets client connect with its small holder rice farmers). The platform should provide information on farmer profiles, land holdings, farm geo-maps, crop plans/package-of-practices, harvest, post-harvest quality, farm processing, crop sales, post-harvest processing steps, production compliances etc.
