Tenders are invited for Provide Support to Financial Institutions for Piloting of Financial Products for Financing Productive Use Dre Technologies.
The Indo German Energy Programme - Promotion of Solar Water Pumps (IGEN-PSWP) programme aims to facilitate the development of an enabling market environment for the promotion of solar water pumps for productive use in selected federal states of India. The programme aims to promote productive use of Decentralized Renewable Energy (DRE) powered applications/ technologies in the selected value chains of agriculture, dairy and fishery. Deployment of DRE technologies in field would help in achieving the goal of “Income up, Carbon down” i.e., carbon dioxide emission reduction and rural poverty alleviation. The programme aims to address following three areas:
Integration of matured DRE technologies in selected value-chains.
Facilitate access to affordable finance for the selected DRE technologies.
Technical assistance for enabling policy environment for DRE technologies
Regardless of several initiatives and pilots carried out by a multitude of organizations, it has been observed that unlocking finance for DRE applications from financial institutions and leveraging funds from existing schemes and programs remains a challenge for the end users and for field implementation organisations. Suitable business models or scale up efforts have not yet been tested sufficiently to bring DRE interventions to scale.
Objectives:
To promote the use of DRE technologies, the project envisages to extend operational support and technical handholding to financial institutions for development and incorporation of DRE centric financial products in the financial product portfolio of two FIs (Financial Institutions). The project aims to roll out these financial products via way of pilots and provide access to affordable end user finance to the rural beneficiaries.
Assignment activities:
The support to FIs is aimed towards:
Developing four novel financial products for financing end users of DRE technologies. Incorporating minimum three newly developed financial products in minimum of two FIs- product portfolio.
Piloting of the four newly developed financial products to reach 750 end users of which 125 are women.
Exposure visits for field officials from selected and/or other local FIs for awareness building and sensitization on productive use DRE technologies.
