Work Location : Hampton Roads, VA Website: Summary:The Virginia Port Authority (VPA) is seeking information and general project proposals to support research and development work on the integration of Hydrogen-powered gensets into our diesel and diesel-electric hybrid shuttle trucks. The VPA has a goal of being zero emissions by 2040. The second largest area of emissions on terminal is our shuttle trucks. We currently have a fleet of 109, made up of a mix of older diesel-hydraulic units and hybrid diesel-electric units. We would like to partner with a hydrogen genset manufacturer to retrofit the units with hydrogen power, replacing diesel power. If a favorable plan is received, this RFI may lead to a contract award at the discretion of the VPA’s Head of Procurement.
