Tender Details

Detailed_Description : Public Health Ontario (PHO) believes that the following procurement qualifies as a sole source or single source procurement. The purpose of this Advanced Contract Award Notice (ACAN) is to determine if there are other proponents capable of meeting the requirements of the procurement for the following supplies for PHO.Vendor: Illumina Canada ULCProduct: Reagents and Consumables for use with Illumina MiSeq platform (see attached ACAN listing under the Project, under attachments)Purpose: Whole Genome Sequencing Cluster Identification and ClassificationPHO performs whole genome sequencing to track and monitor the sources and spread of outbreaks related to the following enteric pathogens such as Salmonella, E. coli O157:H7 and other shiga toxin producing E. coli (STEC) and Listeria monocytogenes. The results are utilised to identify enteric pathogens responsible for foodborne illnesses and are shared with epidemiologists and public health units to support outbreak investigation and response efforts. Canada-s National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) and PulseNet Canada set the national standardized sequencing protocols for this process; these protocols require use of the Illumina reagents in order to provide reliable genetic data for epidemiological investigations. PHO's Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for these testing processes replicate NML-s exact protocol. In accordance with the NML SOP, PHO utilises an Illumina MiSeq sequencing instrument platform as the equipment for this process and therefore requires the supply of compatible reagents to complete the testing. PHO believes that there is only one supplier capable of supplying all the required goods in the Canadian Market.PHO intends to award a 2-year term contract to Illumina Canada ULC for the products described in the ACAN attachment. This request does not constitute a call for tenders.
