The City of Santa Cruz seeks a highly qualified technical consultant to prepare and develop City of Santa Cruz Active Transportation Plan Update. The Active Transportation Plan was last updated in 2017 (link: https://www.cityofsantacruz.com/government/city-departments/public-works/traffic-engineering/active-transportation-plan). The City of Santa Cruz aims to be forward thinking and progressive in planning, designing, and implementing connected, safe, and accessible active transportation designs for all roadway users. The City of Santa Cruz has a strong commitment to active transportation, and this planning process and resulting plan will further our efforts to create a more livable city for all.This Active Transportation Plan Update will allow the City to comprehensively address active transportation needs that will lead to a shift in travel behaviors through focus on pedestrian and bicycle facilities for users of all ages and abilities, more equitable engagement, best practices, and new policy and infrastructure tools all within one document. The City desires to utilize best practices and emerging tools to plan for transformational active transportation opportunities.The development of this Plan would allow the City to:Move closer to meeting its General Plan, Climate Action Plan, and Health in All Policies goals;Plan projects that will increase bicycle and pedestrian mode share and be designed for users of all ages and abilitiesMove closer to our adopted Vision Zero goals for all roadway usersPlan for progressive multimodal facilities, including those with greater physical separation of vulnerable roadway users from vehicular trafficAddress connections that catalyze housing development with access to transit and transit-oriented development; andAddress equity in process and outcomes.Public engagement is a key cornerstone of this effort.
