Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) low earth orbit (LEO) computational imaging RFI
AFRL requests industry feedback on a LEO computational imaging architecture intended to support future electro-optical moving target engagement capabilities. The Government is seeking this industry feedback to ultimately inform the LEO computational imaging acquisition strategy, technical approach, and dual-use/commercial applications. AFRL envisions that the LEO computational imaging development will progress from an experimental payload to partnership(s) with commercial satellite imagery provider(s) on extended capability prototypes. This RFI requests industry feedback and approaches to support delivering a LEO computational imaging capability with respect to two areas:
General approach to the system acquisition Space Segment (payload & spacecraft)Contract Type
The Government is considering multiple contract types for this acquisition and request industry feedback to better inform our acquisition strategy. If responders have any input on which contract type would provide the optimal outcome, it is welcome within the responses to this RFI. Please include the identified recommended contract type (to include incentive type as needed) and a short explanation.
