Zermatt can be reached via the train and a road that requires approval. In the case of larger environmental events (avalanches, stone chips), both traffic routes are often closed, so that Zermatt can only be reached by air. So that the accessibility of Zermatt from Täsch can be ensured in the future, the railway line should be protected from environmental influences. To achieve this goal, a new tunnel between Täsch and Zermatt is planned. The preliminary project was developed and completed at the end of November 2023. An architect and a landscape architect are sought.
