Tenders are invited for Ariel OPS and FDIR Support
Ariel, as the fourth medium-class mission (M4) in the ESA Cosmic Vision Plan, following Solar Orbiter (M1), Euclid (M2) and Plato (M3) is planned for launch in 2029. Its mission aims at determining the chemical composition and physical conditions of the atmosphere for a set of exoplanets and encompasses a duration for a first phase of 6 months for the transit up to the Halo orbit at L2 position, the cooldown, and the commissioning, and an operational phase of 3.5 years. An extended mission lifetime of 2 years is also considered. In this framework, the objective of the present procurement is the selection of the contractor for the AIT (Assembly, Integration and Test) Support in accordance with the principles of “ESA Best Practices for the Selection of Subcontractors by Prime Contractors in the frame of ESA-s Major Procurements” (reference ESA BEST PRACTICES IPC(2012)65, rev.2). The scope of this procurement covers the work to be performed by the Operations (OPS) and Failure Detection, Isolation and Recovery (FDIR) Support contractor in assistance to the Ariel Prime contractor during the implementation phase for what concerns OPS and FDIR activities. In particular the objective is to: • Support Operational toolbox development • Participate to the Spacecraft User-s Manual elaboration • Define and validate of Operational Procedures • Participate to the definition, implementation and validation of FDIR It is expected that a part of these tasks is executed by Contractor representative(s) collocated within the Airbus Defence and Space prime team (France and UK), the remaining tasks being executed at Contractor premises.Read more
