Expression of Interest are invited for Bangladesh Flood Protection Program - Product Design

The Government of Bangladesh is developing a flood protection program for communities living along select sites in the Jamuna region. This is one component within a larger World Bank program that is targeting strengthning of flood resilience in Bangladesh, particularly of the Jamuna region.

As part of the flood protection program, two linked instruments are expected to be developed: i) a macro-level parametric insurance product for floods; ii) a community protection fund. While government will be policy holder of the insurance product, any payouts from either instruments are expected to flow as emergency cash transfers for affected households.

The program is anticipated to expand or scale up an existing flood response program in the country. The proposed consultancy firm will support the product design, including required flood risk modeling and trigger design for the program.
