Bangladesh-s urban areas face significant challenges from climate change and environmental hazards, including extreme heat, air pollution, and noise pollution. Rising temperatures have contributed to an increase in heat-induced health issues, infectious and chronic diseases, and poorer nutrition outcomes. Evidence shows a rise in mortality rates during extreme heat events, highlighting the urgency for adaptive measures. Additionally, air pollution, driven by rapid industrialization, vehicular emissions, and construction activities, poses a severe public health threat, with high levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5) leading to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. Noise pollution, often linked to urban growth and industrial activity, further exacerbates health vulnerabilities, especially for children and the elderly. To address these pressing issues, the World Bank has approved a $200 million project to strengthen urban healthcare and environmental health services in Bangladesh. As part of this initiative, the World Bank is seeking a qualified firm to assist the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives (MoLGRD&C) in developing comprehensive behavior change communication materials. These materials will aim to raise awareness and motivate communities to adopt protective measures against climate change, air pollution, and noise pollution. The selected firm is expected to employ innovative and culturally sensitive strategies to engage diverse communities and promote actionable steps to mitigate the health risks associated with these environmental hazards.
