Tender Details

The Department of Education has been successful in applying for inclusion in the Climate Action REPowerEU Pathfinder Programme 2024/2025 to develop and complete a Schools Energy Retrofit Pathfinder programme. In summary, the project comprises the appointment of Multi-Disciplinary Design Teams (MDDT) and Technical Advisory Design Teams (TA) consultancy services to 40 schools. These schools are located in counties Kildare, Meath, Offaly, Wexford and Wicklow. The MDDT competition is sub-divided into twelve (14) LOTs (2 or 3 schools per LOT). The TA competition is sub-divided into two (2) LOTS (20 schools per LOT). Each LOT represents a separate tender competition and contract. Invitations to tender are now invited from suitably qualified consultants who wish to form an integrated design team to tender. These schools are located in counties Kildare, Meath, Offaly, Wexford and Wicklow. Each LOT represents a separate tender competition and contract. This pathfinder will support energy efficiency and decarbonisation in the school sector, reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Lowering energy consumption reduces the impact on the climate and the environment, reduces the costs of the green transition, reduces vulnerability to fluctuations in energy prices, increases security of energy supply and reduces consumption of fossil fuels for heating purposes. The works will be deep retrofit in nature and will typically involve upgrades to the building fabric including wall and roof insulation, doors and windows, air tightness improvements, LED lighting, EV Charging and heating upgrades as well as renewable technologies to a typical decarbonised BER rating of at least B1. Refer to the CFT documents for further information.
