A baseline survey measuring the EU-s digital visibility on social media was conducted in 2021 as a benchmark to measure EU cooperation communication efforts in ASEAN. Three main pillars of the survey were website analysis (euinasean.eu), social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and competitor analysis to establish the positioning of the EU brand.
Following the conclusion of the survey, key learnings from this exercise have strategically informed the communications strategy of the Delegation of the European Union to ASEAN.
As the Communication and Visibility for EU Cooperation ASEAN project is coming to an end in December 2024, an end line survey will be conducted. To allow an apple-to-apple comparison, the end line survey is designed around the same three pillars as the baseline survey.
Objectives
The end line survey aims to:
serve as a monitoring and evaluation tool for the communication efforts in ASEAN
measure the output of the Communication and Visibility for EU Cooperation ASEAN project
provide updated insights to inform the strategic direction of EU communications in ASEAN
Output
The end line survey report shall include:
A comprehensive brand audit report comprising analysis of the euinasean.eu website, euinasesan social media channels and competitor analysis.
Website analysis for euinasean.eu shall include: traffic overview, traffic source, location, language, user behaviour, content analysis and SEO overview
Social media analysis should include @euinasean-s Instagram, Facebook, X and Youtube and shall cover: overview platform popularity (including comparison by country in all ASEAN Member States), performance summary, followers acquisition, content and audience summary (for all social media platforms)
Competitor analysis shall include: [for website] share of voice, web traffic and [for social media] follower acquisition as well as content and engagements. Suggested benchmark competitors include ASEAN, ASEAN Foundation, EU in Indonesia, EU International Partnerships and US Mission to ASEAN.
