Expression of Interest are invited for Consulting Services for Jamaica Plastic Waste Removal Technical Assistance
These consulting services aim to: (i) investigate technical/infrastructure alternatives for floating debris diversion structures to understand their suitability for safe and reliable removal of floating trash from fast moving bodies of water Kingston, Jamaica, (ii) strengthen community collaboration for initiating behavior change approaches for waste minimization as well as environmentally sound waste management, and (iii) develop information, education and communications products to share lessons for Jamaica and the Caribbean. The proposed interventions prioritize: a community-focus where citizens take ownership of reducing and diverting waste; reduction of marine litter, and economic opportunities to invite multi-stakeholder collaboration to tackle specific portions of the waste-value-chain. The end results are improving household awareness about waste prevention, participation in collection and recycling, and development of a roadmap for a more resilient waste-management system.
