Cabonne Council Urban Infrastructure Team is requesting submissions from tenderers for the design and construction of a new pedestrian suspension bridge over the Belubula River, at Coocumber Weir, to replace the existing pedestrian suspension bridge. The existing pedestrian bridge was originally built in 1938. It has undergone various repairs and reinforcements over the years. The most significant was in the 1990s, with the construction of new concrete pylons and cables. The bridge has been subjected to repeated flooding, and whilst in reasonable structural condition, it is no longer compliant with current accessibility standards and community expectations. Demolition of the existing bridge and design and construction of a new, compliant pedestrian bridge is proposed. To achieve the desired outcomes for this project, Council are undertaking an open tender process.
