The Vessel Bottom Penetrations (PFC) are welded to the ferritic steel of the Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) vessel, and are part of the second containment barrier of the PWR reactors. They were manufactured with inconel 600 and welded with inconel 182, sensitive to corrosion.ion under stress in primary medium. These welds located between the spherical cap of the vessel and the PFCs are called J welds or Jwelds.
The services include:
- The development of a Non Destructive Examination (END) to detect and characterize CSC type cracks in these sudures, on the PWRs of the 900 and 1300 series and of the CNPE Chooz.
- Qualification in appraisal mode on an exploratory basis (without qualification committee)
- Interventions carried out during unit outage, in the state, Reactor Completely Unloaded ( RCD) and full pool.
These are maintenance operations.preventive maintenance according to the Basic Preventive Maintenance Program (PBMP).
