Quotation are invited for Data Collection Firms Timor-Leste Social and Behavior Change Study
Specific responsibilities and tasks include:
Provide feedback on protocol and instruments
Translate protocol (30 pages), informed consent form (2 pages) and instruments (10 pages) into Tetum
As requested, facilitate local IRB submission and follow-up as necessary until approval is obtained
Recruit and supervise data collectors and supervisors
Ensure all data collectors, supervisors and coordinator complete and pass a test for research ethics training
Arrange for data collector training
o 2 weeks - one 5-day session each for qualitative and quantitative research, roughly six weeks apart
o The first 3 days of each will be classroom-based and FHI 360 trainers will need
simultaneous translation services (English to Tetum)
o Arrange for a pretest of the instruments in field sites during the last 2 days
Introduce study to the communities
Develop sampling frames
The pretest will involve arranging for and conducting 4 SSIs, 1 mini-FG, and 4 surveys with HHs.
o Service Provider will identify the HHs, arrange for the interview at HH, conduct informed consent, interview, tape record interview, and transmit audio file of interview, completed semi-structured data collection tool and completed survey data to FHI 360.
Conduct 150 HH interviews (1 hour in length) each in unstructured and structured areas, for a total of 300. Data collectors will travel to the HH, introduce the study, conduct informed consent, conduct the interview, and transfer data to supervisor.
Supervisors will perform data quality checks, electronically send the data from each tablet to FHI 360 daily, and back-up data onto thumb drive daily.
Responsibilities of FHI 360:
1. Creation and provision of all field tools and consent forms, in English
2. Provision of sampling instructions
3. Provision of training to all data collectors, supervisors, and coordinator
