DLR is currently setting up a laboratory to characterize optical and thermal sensors used on planetary missions. In this context, we should procure a universal spectral light source (SLS), which covers at least the wavelengths of 0.4 - 14um and is used to characterizement of new optical and thermal sensors (CCD detectors, CMOS image sensors, microbolometers, InGaAs detectors, MCT detectors, avalanche photodiodes, thermopile sensors).
The SLS is intended to replace a test setup that already exists at DLR (see figure below).
The SLS should be horizontal (optical axis) can be set up on an existing optical bench. The output beam of the SLS should be aimed at the entrance window of a thermal chamber, in which the detector or sensor to be tested is located at a distance of approx. 50-100mm from the entrance window.
The light sourcee is to be used as a stimulus for the following tests, among others:
1. Detector Responsiveness 2. Noise (NETD) 3. Sensitivity Uniformity/Flat-Field) 4. Linearity 5. Spectral Response 6. Quantum Efficiency 7. Modular Transfer Function (with projection optics) 8. Charge Transport Efficiencynz (z.B. bei CCDs)
