The air measurement network of the Federal Environment Agency fulfills measurement obligations for national and international measurement programs. Measurements, sampling and analysis are used to collect data on air quality, which provides information on the pollution of the air with gaseous, particle-bound or droplet-bound componentsfe and their trends and thus observations on the effectiveness of air pollution control measures. The air measurement network of the Federal Environment Agency of the Federal Republic of Germany therefore collects data using automatic measuring devices, dust and precipitation collectors, gas samplers and highly sensitive laboratory instrumentsyse units. The air constituents, which are found both as trace gases and in the dry and moist deposition and are transported with the wind, require a large number of different and special measurement, collection and analysis methods, their application internationally and nationallyl are agreed in order to be able to evaluate results in a comparable manner. Therefore, the use of certain methods and types of equipment, which have been shown to be suitable in comparisons and have been approved for their suitability, is usually prescribed. This is also the case here.
