Request for proposals are invited for Development of a Country Level Circular Economy Taxonomy, Philippines
The purpose of the Green Economy Program in the Philippines (GEPP) is to support the Philippines- transition towards a green economy, including circular economy, reducing waste and plastic, as well as to increase energy efficiency and renewable energy deployment to support climate change mitigation. The transition to circular economy will have other added benefits such as the reduction of use of energy and greenhouse gas emissions, improvement of biodiversity and natural capital, a decrease in pollution levels, as well as climate change adaptation among others.
GGGI in partnership with International Finance Corporation (IFC) and Expertise Finance supports SO3 (enhancing engagement of the private and financial sectors into the circular waste economy creating better conditions for private sector investment by supporting business driven waste reduction strategies and circular solutions in the production process) to achieve three (3) Outputs:
(1) Support the creation and growth of eco-enterprises for green/circular economy innovation and transformation.
(2) Support for green infrastructure projects which engage local private sector actors in circular economy waste management.
(3) Support to the financial sector for the allocation of green/circular economy-focused financing and acceleration of high-growth-potential innovative green/circular economy start-ups.
To achieve the outputs above, GGGI is partnering with Expertise France to help increase the engagement of the private sector, particularly financial institutions, in the Philippines' transition towards a green and circular economy. GGGI is responsible for implementing output 3 which consists of four key activities:
3.1 Development of a country level circular/green economy taxonomy/framework.
3.2 Technical assistance to financial institution(s) to better identify, assess, and finance circular/green economy projects and/or implement relevant financial product(s).
3.3 Development of a financing vehicle with local government unit(s) and participating financial institutions to fund local circular economy projects.
3.4 Investment mobilization and acceleration of high-growth potential green/circular economy startups.
