SUBJECT: Scope of Work/Technical Specifications

Dredge Goetz Discharge Hose (Quantity 2)



1. General Information.



Intended use. The hose, described herein will be used to conduct dredge slurry from the rigidly fixed dredge discharge pipe of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Dredge Goetz to the rigidly fixed pipe of a pontoon string. The hose is intended to provide all the flexure necessary to connect a swinging hydraulic cutter dredge to a fixed discharge line supported on pontoons. The dredge discharge pipe has an internal diameter of 20 inches.

Slurry. The hose will carry a water and sand slurry consisting of 0 to 40% medium grain size sand.

Line pressure. The hose shall be capable of safely withstanding an operating pressure of 200 psi. The safety factor used by the manufacturer in the design of the hose to ensure safe operation at 200 psi shall be specified by the offeror in their quote. The hose will not be subject to a vacuum.

Diameter. The hose inside diameter shall be 20 inches. The diameter shall be measured at the inside of the lining.

Length. The length of the hose shall be 24 feet when measured from inlet flange to outlet flange.

Flexure. The hose shall be capable of flexing to accommodate 40 degrees of swing to the starboard of centerline and 40 degrees to the port of centerline by the dredge while the pontoon remains stationary.

Hose flanges. The manufacturer shall supply permanently affixed steel inlet and outlet flanges suitable for the use intended. The flanges shall be vulcanized to the hose. The recommended method of securing the hose flange to the mating flange shall be explained in the manufacturer-s quote. The flanges shall be rubber lined. The rubber shall extend from the inner tube through the flange and up the flange face.
