Driftpile Cree Nation commissioned a new Wastewater Treatment Facility in 2021. With the support of Indigenous Services Canada, Driftpile is ready to fully decommission the old lagoons and reclaim the land. Desludging and partial decommissioning of the lagoons has been started during the environmental assessment phase of the project. The current Project will complete the site reclamation, including the general construction of lagoon decommissioning and returning the land to original conditions. The work includes removal of remaining HDPE liner and miscellaneous debris on site, hauling geotube materials to a landfill, and earthworks to restore site to original contours and conditions.
