Eastern Rise Offshore Wind Project



Eastern Rise OWP Project Pty Ltd are proposing the construction and operation of the Eastern Rise Offshore Wind Project (the Project). The Project comprises an offshore floating wind farm and transmission infrastructure (offshore and onshore). The Project design is continuing to develop and evolve as further technical investigations (environmental and engineering), stakeholder engagement and commercial and technological considerations are completed.



This Referral covers the entire project including the offshore components to be located within Commonwealth waters and Matters of National Environmental Significance (MNES) applicable to those parts of the Project taking place within State (NSW) waters and onshore areas.



The Project for consideration in this referral is shown in Figure 1 (Project Location), Figure 2 (Project Area), Figure 3 (EPBC Act Referral Area) and Figure 4 (EPBC Act Disturbance and Avoidance Areas).



Offshore components within the Commonwealth jurisdiction includes the floating Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs), associated floating infrastructure and subsea cable, located approximately 25 to 50 km off the NSW coastline between Newcastle and Port Stephens covering an area of approximately 450 km2 (Figure 2), including:



115 floating WTGs and associated floating platform infrastructure generating up to 1.775 GW of electricity

Each WTG would have a hub height of between 165 m and 190 m and rotor diameters of between 250 m and 275 m

Three offshore floating substations connected by array cables to the WTGs
