TheWorld Bank is seeking a consulting firm to develop Energy TransitionAcceleration Roadmaps for selected countries in the Pacific region. The objective of the assignment is todevelop roadmaps and provide recommendations on ways to accelerate energy transition, increase renewable energy scale up and decarbonization of the energy sector. The roadmaps will firstfocus on four countries: Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, and the Federated State ofMicronesia, however may be expanded to cover a further 1-2 countries. The objective isto provide the selected countries with a realistic roadmap that will guide themachieve their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) targets and acceleratethe energy transition in close collaboration with utilities, governmentstakeholders, and development partners. The roadmaps will focus on five priority areas: (1)Scale up clean energy technologies and scale back on fossil fuels; (2) Givecommunities access to sustainable energy services; (3) Prioritize energyefficiency and tackle the demand side; (4) Foster the climate resilience ofenergy infrastructure; and (5) Strengthening the institutional capacity, improve financially viability and affordability for consumers.
