NATIONAL AGENCY FOR SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING INFRASTRUCTURE
PICTT FUNDING FOR ENGINEERING R & D PROJECTS (DELT-HER INITIATIVE) UNDER THE PICTT DELTA-2 PROGRAMME
1. SCOPE
A call for proposals on engineering R & D Projects is hereby announced by the Presidential Implementation Committee on Technology Transfer (PICTT) under the PICTT delta- 2 programme. The call is launched under the developing engineering leaders through Her (DELT-Her) initiative, to focus on applied research in engineering towards the development of new or significantly improved products/processes/services.
3. PROGRAMME STRUCTURE
The engineering innovative ideas to be sponsored under this initiative should result in economically viable products and services which would yield benefits to both the applicants and the nation. Sustainable startup companies are expected to emerge from the activities under this initiative, the success of which would be projected to enthuse school-age girls and encourage wider participation in engineering.
Applicant Eligibility
Lead applicants shall be female Nigerians who have attained a minimum of first degree (B.Sc/HND) and have innovative engineering ideas. The initiative targets young females aged 23 to 45 years who have developed a proposal on innovative ideas in engineering and have set up a team for the implementation of the ideas. Each team shall however be constituted of at least 60% female participants, to qualify for funding under this initiative.
In addition, applicants may only submit their application following affirmation by at least one of the mentors listed by the sponsor (the procedure for securing a mentor-s affirmation (3.4) shall be available on the PICTT website). Failure in any of the criteria will disqualify the applicant and the respective proposal will not proceed to the next step of proposal evaluation.
Programme procedure and schedule
i. Promotion period and launch of call for proposals 12 February - 8 March.
ii. Project submission period 9th March - 20 May
iii. Evaluation period (incl. eligibility check) 21 May - 30 August
iv. Final release of results of sponsor 31 August - 6 September
v. Final and binding results announcement (latest deadline) 9 September.
vi. Bootcamp for mentorship and training (camp for mentoring and training) 9-10 October.
vii. Close of bootcamp (event finale and agreement signing ceremony) 11 October
viii. Project kickoff and start of funding 4 November.
Project duration and finding
The maximum number of projects fundable under the current call for proposals under the PICTT DELT -Her initiative is ten (10). Funding is provided on grant basis which is made available at project kick-off on 4 November 2024. Projects are expected to be executed within a duration of one-year, additional funding do not apply during project implementation.
