Scope Summary:
Provide an internal stack inspection at SRS for an active stack. The stack has a flow rate of 111, 121 cfm and exit velocity of 2, 220 fpm. The temperature of air flow exiting the stack is approximately room temperature (690-720 Fahrenheit). The stack is 200 feet high.
296-H is comprised of a 183--8” concrete chimney without stack liner sitting atop a reinforced concrete foundation. The chimney varies in size and thickness from 12--11 7/8” outer diameter with 10” thickness at its base, reducing down to outer diameter of 11.04- and 6” thickness at 90 feet, and then maintains 6” thickness while reducing in size to an outer diameter of 9--0”. The stack foundation is 25--0” tall in total, with the bottom 4--0” comprised of a 36--0” wide octagonal Footing.
1. During the inspection the stack flow rate and velocity can be reduced to 32, 360 cfm and the air exiting the stack would be approximately 647.2 ft/min.
2. Potential for radiation contamination on equipment. However - SRNS will have our Radiological Team during planning, and any work being done.
3. Ability to perform work scope by not “touching” stack (i.e. no climbing of the stack, no attaching equipment on the stack, etc.).
