Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), which manages and operates portions of the Savannah River Site (SRS) under a Department of Energy (DOE) prime contract, solicits expressions of interest from potential suppliers who have a strong background in Exhaust Stack and/or Industrial Chimney inspections.

The SRS complex is located approximately 15 miles south of Aiken, South Carolina and is 310 contiguous square miles.

Request for Information (RFI)

Scope Summary:

Provide an internal and external inspection of a 200- tall reinforced concrete stack exterior chimney and internal acid proof brick liner at an active nuclear facility. Inspection of a connecting structural steel breeching duct house and an adjacent 100- tall structural steel stair tower is also requested. The stack was built in 1954. Pictures nor drawing of the stack are not provided at this time.

The diameter at the base of the 291-H stack is approximately 18- decreasing to approximately 12--7” outer diameter at the top with approximately 12” thick walls at the base decreasing to approximately 6” thick walls at the top. The thickness of the acid proof brick lining is approximately 12” at the base extending to the 24--4” elevation, approximately 8” thick from the 24--4” elevation to the 149--4” elevation, and approximately 4” thick from the 149--4” elevation to the 199--4” elevation.

There are 3/8” diameter stainless steel threaded studs anchored into the exterior of the reinforced concrete stack at approximately 4- on center from the top of the stair tower to the top of the stack for inspection ladder purposes.
