Request for proposals are invited for Facilitator for “Holding Space” for JSI Staff.
Purpose & Objective:
Recognizing the intricate and highly sensitive/politically/ethnically-charged nature of the humanitarian crisis in the Middle East, JSI is in search of an experienced external facilitator, preferably with regional expertise, who can adeptly, impartially, and above all respectfully, engage in nuanced discussions with our staff. The key objectives of this facilitation are as follows:
Create a safe and inclusive space for staff to share their perspectives on the Middle East crisis.
Facilitate open and respectful discussions to foster understanding and empathy among participants.
Develop strategies to manage personal stress and anxiety related to the conflict.
Explore ways in which JSI can support each other and the humanitarian efforts in Israel and Gaza.
Expected Outcomes & Activities:
In collaboration with JSI staff and leadership, the facilitator will organize and facilitate a series of open forum meetings, providing staff with the option to participate. The facilitator-s responsibilities include:
Discussion Planning: Devising a flexible discussion plan for the meetings. This entails formulating guiding questions to stimulate dialogue, fostering staff comfort, and exploring diverse perspectives.
Meeting Facilitation/Moderation: Setting the tone and guiding the discussion. As needed the facilitator will also act as a neutral party, respectfully mediating discussions between conflicting participants, encouraging participants to express concerns and ideas while listening to others.
Creating a Safe Space: Establishing a safe, welcoming, and conducive environment for discussions, ensuring that all participants feel comfortable sharing their perspectives without fear of retaliation or judgment.
Emotional support: Assisting participants in navigating emotionally charged discussions, enabling them to manage stress, anger, and frustration that may arise during conversations.
Feedback & Reflection: Eliciting feedback and facilitating reflective processes among staff. This serves as a valuable means for JSI and its personnel to glean insights, learn, evolve, and enhance their approach in navigating the complex landscape of geopolitical and humanitarian crises.
