Tender Details

The British Columbia, Ministry of Forests (MOF) deploys pheromone-baited Delta traps to monitor Spongy Moth, Lymantria dispar, at 165 sites in the Thompson Okanagan Region of British Columbia. MOF trapping augments and compliments the trapping done by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA). Spongy moth (formerly known as Gypsy moth) is not native to North America and B.C. This work entails placing and retrieving traps at 165 designated sites. The spongy moth trap sites are predominantly within or near Recreation Sites, rest stops along major travel corridors, and near small communities frequented by tourists throughout the Thompson Okanagan Region. All traps should be placed before the end of June and should remain up until early to mid-September. Traps and pheromone lures are supplied by CFIA to MOF who will dispense to the contractor. An App (loaded onto contractors tablet or phone) must be used to track placement and retrieval of traps. A photograph must be taken at each site. When traps are retrieved by the contractor, they must be checked for the presence of male spongy moths and any other Lepidoptera. Any traps containing any species of moth should be given to the Regional Entomologist for verification.
