the consultant will be engaged in a project aimed at enhancing dikken's internal processes and strengthening team capacity in outreach, communications, visibility, and sustainability.
dikken is an experimental solidarity grocery shop founded in 2020 to combat price inflation and poverty. it implements a membership system that prices goods progressively based on the client/member-s socioeconomic situation, leading to cross-subsidization.
dikken is considered one of the groups supported under the mada platform, which is a flexible space that provides diverse support to civil society and grassroots initiatives.
within the project framework, the consultant will work for a total of three days over a period of one week. the consultant will facilitate a three-day workshop designed to deliver essential food safety training to employees at dikken el mazraa. the training will cover crucial topics such as personal hygiene, contamination prevention, proper food storage, and effective cleaning techniques. the primary objectives of the workshop are to bolster food safety awareness, inspire food handlers to maintain high standards, and ensure adherence to relevant legislation and regulations.
main tasks and responsibilities
food safety fundamentals: teach essential food safety and hygiene practices, focusing on personal hygiene and understanding different types of contamination through real-life examples.
storage and cleaning practices: instruct on proper food storage, temperature control, and effective cleaning procedures, including hands-on practice with cleaning and sanitation techniques.
practical compliance and follow-up: conduct hands-on compliance exercises, assess participants' application of food safety measures, and plan follow-up visits to ensure ongoing compliance in their workplaces.
deliverables:
prepare a final report summarizing the work completed, detailing challenges faced, and offering recommendations for future improvements.
requirements and qualifications:
degree or diploma in food safety, environmental health, public health, or related field.
certification in food safety and hygiene, such as haccp.
at least 5 years of experience in food safety training or quality assurance.
proven ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions on food safety.
in-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
strong understanding of contamination types, storage, and cleaning protocols.
excellent communication and presentation skills with diverse audiences.
ability to conduct follow-up visits and provide ongoing support to ensure compliance.
