The Ministry of Environment (the “ministry”) manages and protects Saskatchewan-s environment for the well-being of the province and its people. Developing habitat restoration guidelines for disturbed boreal forest ecosites provides the basis for effective reclamation and is an important part of implementing Saskatchewan-s boreal woodland caribou range plans. The contractor will conduct a literature review of forested site restoration approaches and develop and recommend boreal forest habitat restoration guidelines for Saskatchewan. Recommended guidelines will be developed from the literature review findings as well as a previously completed Canadian jurisdictional scan of forested site reclamation and restoration requirements. The guidelines resulting from the contract will be based on current habitat restoration best management practices and scientific research. Although third party engagement activities are not within the scope of this contract, the Contractor is expected to use professional judgment to produce guidelines that would be generally acceptable to industry, governments, and other organizations undertaking restoration work in woodland caribou range in Saskatchewan.
