Request for proposals are invited for Hire a Reputable Open Edx Learning Management System (Lms) Provider
WRI seeks to hire a reputable Open edx Learning Management System (LMS) provider to support the
development, hosting, maintenance and tracking of the 8 City Academy online courses. Our primary goals for the online courses are as follows:
• Provide a user-friendly, interactive, and engaging course experience for target audience and beyond.
• Provide a user-friendly backend interface that allows course creators to utilize a variety of content types and interactive elements to facilitate learning
• Provide versions of the courses and/or course materials in 5 additional languages apart from
English: French, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian Bahasa, and Mandarin Chinese.
• Structure curriculum in an intentional, organized, and curated manner around 8 thematic focus
areas that confront major challenges facing cities.
• Provide training to high-level local officials from the 20+ cities participating in the program to
directly improve their technical skills and influence day-to-day operations and decision making.
• Emphasize and track the training of women officials and city leaders and incorporate genderresponsive and participatory planning tools and concepts within the curriculum.
Scope of Work and Outputs/Deliverables:
The selected LMS provider will be expected to meet the following requirements, to the extent that is possible:
• Provide a cloud-based Open edx platform to host 8 or more courses and all associated course
content (videos, PPTs, PDFs, images, quizzes, and more).
• Integrate the external-facing City Academy webpage with the UrbanShift website to provide a seamless user experience.
• Allow for customized branding of the City Academy webpage and individual courses.
• Provide capability to host multi-language versions of the 8 courses, including multi-language user interfaces.
• Provide a smooth, intuitive user interface that is responsive (adaptable to mobile and other devices) and works efficiently in areas with low bandwidth.
• Provide an easily navigable backend interface for non-technical course developers.
• Offer quality and timely customer service, trainings, resources, and ad hoc technical support at specific periods throughout the project (see Timeline below).
• Offer instructional design services (not essential, but desirable) to support course developers to in creating high-quality courses.
• Provide options for users to set learning goals (e.g., commitment to work x number of days or x number of hours per day), and the ability to connect these goals with their Google Calendar or iCal.
• Send personalized email reminders to users to motivate them to complete the courses they-ve registered for.
• Allow users to download specific pieces of course content for offline viewing, such as PDFs and video transcripts.
• Allow users to receive and download certifications once a course has been completed, including the option to share the certification over social media.
• Track, store and analyze individual and consolidated data on users and user habits, including but not limited to demographic information, geographic location, click-throughs, user performance across the 8 courses, user engagement with specific units and pieces of content, and so forth
