Tenders are invited for Industry Analysis to Inform Localisation/Designation of Bulk Material Handling Equipment
The scope of work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the following:
7.1 Overview of the overall South Africa-s Bulk Material Handling Sub-Sector including a
brief overview of transformation status in terms of Ownership and BBBEE levels;
7.2 Analysis of the entire industry value chain including services linked to the subsector;
7.3 Key listing and description of all equipment used in the Bulk Material Handling subsector;
7.4 Demand Side Analysis for the three (3) types of equipment (Reclaimers, Stackers &
Ship- Loaders): Private Sector Entities (including the mining houses) & Public
Procurement;
7.5 Supply Side Analysis for the three (3) types of equipment (Reclaimers, Stackers &
Ship- Loaders);
7.6 Conduct gaps to identify, among other things, mismatches between demand and
supply that lead local demand to search for foreign supply;
7.7 Manufacturing Processes (Reclaimers, Stackers & Ship-Loaders);
7.8 Employment Statistics by product (Reclaimers, Stackers & Ship-Loaders);
7.9 Trade analysis per product (Reclaimers, Stackers & Ship-Loaders);
7.10 Issues of Supplier Development;
7.11 Economic Factors: Investment in technology and Skills development initiatives;
7.12 Investigate other challenges and opportunities for Bulk Material
Handling Manufacturing in South Africa;
7.13 Aggregate future investment/procurement plans both (State Owned Entities,
Government, Private Sector Entities including the Mining Houses); and
7.14 Recommendation for possible designation and/or other policy levers the government
could employ in capacitating the sub-sector
