Tenders are invited for Integrated Modelling of Debris Mitigation Compliance Assessments Associated with Interplanetary Return Trajectories (Expro+)

Price Range : 200-500 KEURO

Prog. Reference : E/0904-611 - GSTP Element 1 Dev

An increasing amount of spacecraft are, or will, making use of orbits at the Sun - Earth and Earth - Moon libration points. Satellites or debris in these orbits, and in some interplanetary orbits, may over time enter again into Earth orbit even with risks of re-entry, making the compliance with space debris mitigation a requested assessment.

Currently these analyses are based on a largely established theory but there does not exist any standard procedure or defined tool to assess the mission compliance. As such, assessments are done ad hoc by a set of separate tools adapted for each mission.

This lack of a reference tool and standards presents some open points and risks in modelling, like uncertainty induced by the spacecraft parameters, e.g. reflectivity coefficient, thedifferent orbit typology and chaotic dynamics on the astrodynamics, the potential contribution coming from radiative heat transfer and the validation of fragmentation metrics on the destructive re-entry break-up.To address those issues, this activity shall develop component-based spacecraft models and libraries for the verification of space debris mitigation requirements. These additional components together with the algorithms from the existing tools will be integrated into one software.
