The surveillance is primarily used to monitor for Illegal, Unreported & Unregulated fishing (IUU), but is occasionally used for other applications such as Marine Protected Area (MPA) monitoring, marine pollution monitoring and merchant vessel traffic movements. The level of coverage required is essentially global; the MMO work in a wide range of geographies and may require domestic coverage going forward, with a focus over the UK Overseas Territories (UK-OTs) and partner countries' maritime zones.With the current contract for the provision of these services ending on 31st July 2024, the MMO requires a call off, turnkey service, whereby the supplier must undertake all aspects of data acquisition, processing, storage and analysis, to replace it.
