This Notice is for planning purposes only and is not a Request for Proposal or Request for Quotation or an obligation on the part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for conducting a follow-on acquisition.

This Notice is to assist the Government in determining if there are any domestic manufactured end product sources for the project title.

NIST does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this Notice, or otherwise pay for the information requested. No entitlement or payment of direct or indirect costs or charges by NIST will arise as a result of submission of responses to this Notice and NIST use of such information. Any proprietary, classified, or sensitive information should be presented as an addendum to the non-restricted/non-proprietary information. In the absence of such identification, NIST will assume to have unlimited rights to all technical data in the information paper.



NO SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS ExIST AT THIS TIME.

Requirement:

NIST is seeking information on contractors who can provide a Continuous wave (CW) laser output within the wavelength range of 17.2 μm ± 0.2 μm. with the following features:

1. Laser output power shall be greater than or equal to 1 mW.

2. Continuous, mode-hop-free tuning over the minimum wavenumber range of ±1 cm−1.

3. Laser linewidth of less than or equal to 100 MHz.

4. Laser shall be mounted on a thermoelectric cooler and sealed inside a high heat load (HHL) package.

5. Laser package shall include a collimation lens.

6. The laser HHL housing shall be operable at a temperature of +20 °C.
