As part of the Gender Innovation and Regional Learning (GIRL) initiative, which complements the Sahel Women Empowerment and Demographic Dividend (SWEDD) Project, a pilot intervention is being designed to provide a digital midwifery training app to approximately 750 midwives across Mali. Funded by the Government of Canada, this initiative aims to enhance midwives' knowledge, skills, and patient care through digital clinical training. The project is led by the World Bank Africa Gender Innovation Lab (GIL) in collaboration with the SWEDD Project Implementation Unit, technical partners, and relevant Ministries in Mali. The GIL plans to conduct an impact evaluation of this intervention to provide rigorous evidence on its impact on the frequency and way the application is used, as well as how it helps midwives consolidate their knowledge, and enhance their skills.
