Objective
The project aims to enhance agricultural sustainability in vulnerable communities using permaculture for climate resilience. It involves young people, runs community awareness campaigns, and utilizes permaculture techniques for effective water management. Additionally, it engages local stakeholders to tailor project technologies to their specific needs and conducts educational programs about climate change and sustainable farming.

Scope of work
The consultant will conduct meetings and field visits with farmers and relevant stakeholders to evaluate agricultural lands, taking into account specific criteria such as sustainability, productivity, and environmental impact. The consultant will identify agricultural and abandoned lands and mapping agroecological initiatives. The consultant will coordinate with FTL team, especially to integrate agroecology principles. FTL will then select 2 available lands in order to implement permaculture and agroecology pilot projects.
Outcomes
The consultant will thoroughly assess each identified piece of land to create a detailed map of abandoned agricultural lands and identify any existing agroecological initiatives. This will involve evaluating the land's condition, its agricultural potential, and any environmental or ecological initiatives in place.
Deliverables
To create the assessment tool in close coordination with FTL team
To produce the assessment report for the lands
To map the abandoned lands and agroecological initiatives
Qualifications
Higher university degree in agriculture, social sciences, statistics, or any relevant field
Minimum 5 years of experience as a consultant
Experience using data analysis tools and software such as KOBO, SPSS, and others
Extensive experience interacting with and relating to gender professionals and international stakeholders at senior level
Able to synthesize large data sets to reach conclusions and strategic recommendations
Proven knowledge of Fair-Trade principles
In-depth knowledge of the Lebanese context
