MARINE GRADE ACTIVE STABILIZERThis is a notice of intent to solicit from a single source.The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to award a purchase order with ClearSkies Geomatics of Boulder, CO for a marine grade active stabilizer as described in the specifications below.Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 13.106-1(b) and the procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, ClearSkies Geomatics is, to the USGS knowledge, the only source who can provide the stabilizer that meets all criteria in the required characteristics and is compatible with already purchased equipment. The stabilizer would have to come equipped with software to accept input from shipboard internal measurements unit (IMU) and be able to process NMEA data. Only one product on the open market has been identified that satisfies these requirements, the Somag NSM 400. ClearSkies Geomatics is the only US based reseller of this item. This unit satisfies the IP67 standard suitable operation in offshore environments, accepts payloads up to 100 kg, can compensate for up to 20 degree of pitch and roll within 0.5 degree of accuracy. The stabilizer also accepts IMU data and NMEA frame input.The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a capability statement by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency. No solicitation will be issued. A determination not to compete this action based upon responses received is in the sole discretion of the Government.
