Description
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Urban Security Technology Laboratory (NUSTL) is seeking information on commercially available maritime surveillance technologies that are capable of detecting small surface intrusions on the water. NUSTL is specifically seeking information on systems that include a sensor(s), including electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) and radar, and autonomous or semi-autonomous detection capabilities. Systems of interest for this RFI include those:
Capable of detecting small surface intrusions (kayak or smaller) into an established safety and security zone (port or other critical infrastructure) Allowing configurable intrusion alerting Capable of operating in adverse weather conditions (wind, rain, fog, snow, etc.) during the day and night Designed to have a low false alarm detection rate that doesn-t cause fatigue or complacency Allowing shore-based or structure-based deploymentAdditional technology considerations include integration with existing systems (ex: Command and Control), detection of low-flying unmanned aircraft systems, data storage, retention, viewability and shareability, low frequency and remote maintenance capability, and compliance with industry standards and protocols.
This information is being sought for the DHS Science and Technology Directorate-s System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) program which provides information on commercially available equipment to assist response organizations in equipment selection and procurement. The SAVER program develops knowledge products and conducts objective, practitioner-relevant, operationally oriented assessments and validations on commercially available equipment and systems. Relevant information will be shared nationally with federal, state, local, tribal and territorial response agencies. For further details on the SAVER program, visit the SAVER website at https://www.dhs.gov/science-and-technology/saver.
