Gasunie is working on the HyStock hydrogen storage project near Zuidwending in the Netherlands. Gasunie is planning to develop here the first large-scale hydrogen storage site in northwest Europe. The Zuidwending site is situated on top of a salt dome that is ideally suited to underground hydrogen storage. In this way energy can be stored. The actual estimate is that from the end of 2027, the first cavern and an new above-ground installation will be connected to the developed H2 grid and put into operation. While the expectation is that the first cavern and transport pipelines are ready before the plant has been completed, Gasunie is looking for a temporary debrining solution by means of injecting hydrogen into the first carven. This consultation aims to gather relevant information to determine the best way to procure the temporary debrining solution. The expected duration of the use of the compressor is 6 to 12 months, depending on the availability of the units.
