Description: BACKGROUNDThe WHO/Country Liaison Office for Northern Micronesia provides technical assistance in the area of public health to the national and state governments of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and seeks qualified applicant to support national Emergency Medical Team (EMT) development in the FSM.The WHO EMT Initiative assists countries and NGOs to build capacity and strengthen health systems by facilitating and coordinating the development and deployment of quality-assured, self-sufficient medical teams in emergencies. The EMT Initiative aims to improve rapid response to the health consequences of sudden-onset emergencies, including outbreaks and disasters, by providing guidance, standards, training and EMT coordination mechanisms. Pacific EMTs are mobile groups of health professionals (doctors, nurses, logisticians, etc.) that deploy to treat patients affected by an emergency, outbreak or disaster.
