The Schinkelberg elevated tank is located in the north-eastern part of Osnabrueck's water distribution network and is of particular importance for supplying the Wittefeld zone. The Wittefeld waterworks is designed as a base load plant and feeds a relatively constant flow over periods of several weeksconstant quantity into the drinking water network. The Hunteburger Weg inner-city waterworks also constantly feeds into the network. A tank is therefore required in the common Wittefeld zone, with which the fluctuations in consumption can be compensated over the course of the day.
Another important taskThe Schinkelberg elevated tank is to protect against failures in the area of drinking water supply due to the failure of a waterworks or a feeder line. Due to the oversupply of drinking water between the Wittefeld and Thiene zones, the volume is stationary in most accidentsthe Schinkelberg and Piesberg elevated tanks are available.
The Schinkelberg elevated tank consists of two interlocking spiral-shaped water chambers made of reinforced concrete with a total nominal volume of 10, 000 m³ (useful volume 8, 000 m³). The elevated tank is essentially designed as a continuous tankhear. The feed is above the water level.
