The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Purchasing and Contracts (OPC) intends to award a firm-fixed price Metro Medical, Saint Ann, Missouri 63074 on a sole source basis for a Blanketrol III hyper-hypothermia temperature management system.

The Department of Perioperative Medicine has a requirement for Blanketrol III hyper-hypothermia temperature management system. This system is used to lower or to raise a patient-s temperature and/or maintain a patient temperature through conductive heat transfer. The system is composed of a heater, compressor, circulating pump, and blankets or pads. The system provides a fast response to core body temperature regulation.

Blanketrol III hyper-hypothermia temperature management system have been on the CERC replacement plan and have been approved for purchase. The current units are more than 15 years old. There are other companies that have warming devices but not ones that we have found that meet all of the needs and that are compatible with existing supplies used to support surgical cases that use this blanketrol III.
