RDW issues driving licences with an eID function. This function allows the driving licence to be used for high-level login with DigiD. A PIN code is necessary to protect the eID function on the driving licence. RDW therefore sends a PIN letter for every driving licence that is issued, which letter includes the initial PIN code and PUK code for the eID function of the driving licence.
