Tender Details

As part of a broader sports inclusion initiative, Louth Local Sports Partnership (Contracting Authority) have established a programme for encouraging and developing such physical literacy amongst preschool children in Ireland. This programme is designed to aid preschool staff, who may not be necessarily equipped with the skills and capacity to teach physical literacy, in a preschool setting. The main aim of this programme is to combine the research garnered from a three-year study conducted with the Dundalk Institute of Technology, on physical literacy in primary school children, with expertise from Sport Ireland and Animation Ireland, to leverage the deliverables from the initial phase of this project in which a series of digitally-animated videos that were presented to children in a preschool classroom featuring a movement-focused lead character with which children could engage and emulate, were created and delivered. Such intervention at pre-primary school level is possible today due to the advances in, and accessibility to, technology - both in and out of a classroom setting. Such advances in technology allow for the delivery of a key pillar, or objective of this project, which from the perspective of the Contracting Authority, will be ensuring there are also appropriate means to measure on-going competence, confidence and motivation of the participants, using a technology led solution.
