Preclinical toxicity study in minipigsFraunhofer IZI plans to purchase a GLP-compliant 4-week toxicity multi-site study in minipigs with 2-week recovery including safety pharmacology endpoints (according to guideline ICH M3(R2), CPMP/SWP/1042/99 Rev 1) and validation & measurement of endotoxins in test item; Test system: Minipigs (Göttingen or Aachener Minipigs); Number of animals per group: 3 males + 3 females; 4 groups: control, low, mid and high dose; 3 males + 3 females for 2 recovery groups (control and high-dose); Administration: intravenously over 28 days. The study is part of the BMBF-funded project "NANOpain" where a new drug for the treatment of pain will be developed. Safety and toxicity studies in non-rodent models are required for the approval of new drugs.
